The voice of this blog came from the connections I made at a gathering of spouses of those living with acquired brain injuries. While those with the injury are often well supported, the family members likely struggle quietly behind the scenes. In the face of this silent struggle, we lose our voice in the attempt to maintain a sense of normalcy in our lives. Invisible disabilities often don’t garner a lot of compassion. I wanted to change that, and of course the best place to begin would be with myself. My hope is that everyone can benefit from greater awareness and conversation around everyday kindness and compassion.
